What is Ahi Flower Oil?

Ahi flower oil is a vegan source of omega-3 fatty acids. This flower originates from the United Kingdom and is made from the corn gromwell plant. It is harvested for its chemical composition that acts as a rich building block for synthesizing healthy fats in our bodies.

Now, fats are actually a rich part of our diet along with carbs and protein. In fact, it is thought that we regularly ingest over 20 different types of fats! These fats are varied and classified as either saturated, unsaturated, or polyunsaturated. These terms specifically refer to the number and pattern of bonds found between the carbon chains that make up the long “tails” of the fatty acids.

Along with the differences in fatty acids, there are also differences in availability. For instance, our bodies are able to produce many kinds of fats. Some fats, like omega-3 fatty acids, we lack the proper machinery to synthesize and must take in through our diet.

Traditionally these fatty acids have always been directly tied to meat consumption, specifically fish meat. Tuna, salmon, and trout are examples of meat that are rich in these essential fatty acids. There are some vegan sources that also supply omega-3 fatty acids such as flax seed and ahi flower oil.

Not only is ahi flower oil a totally vegan option for supplementing omega-3s, but it also happens to boast an even richer source of omegas than most other plant based sources. This plant-based supplement is one of the most powerful and effective ways to introduce omega-3 fatty acids and all their health benefits into your diet.

Now that we know why ahi flower oil is important, let's take a look at what omega-3 fatty acids bring to the table for your overall health.

How Does Ahi Flower Oil Provide Stress Support?

Fatty acids, along with being key sources of energy, have many roles within the body. They make up vitally important components of cell walls, building blocks for hormones, neurotransmitters and other messengers involved in the stress response.

It promotes good cholesterol and has been reported to have benefits for your cardiovascular system. One aspect of ahi flower oil is that it provides a unique form of fatty acid synthesis in the form of a molecule called stearidonic acid (SDA). This makes it unique from other plant-based sources of omega-3s like flaxseed and chia seeds that provide a compound called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Alpha-linolenic acid, ALA, a plant omega-3, is the dietary precursor for the beneficial long-chain omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA); eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Although we are able to convert dietary α-linolenic acid into eicosapentaenoic, docosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids (which are found in fish and fish oils), this conversion is not efficient in people who consume a typical Western diet.

The reason why SDA has an advantage over ALA and why ahi flower is a beneficial supplement for supplying it is that SDA directly breaks down into two very important components known as Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).

These unique fatty acids have a multitude of health benefits. They promote overall eye health, skin integrity and can even be used by our brains to help maintain structural wellness. These omega-3s are also largely responsible for the positive impacts on healthy cholesterol levels and have even been linked to impacting our body’s natural ability to age.

What Else Can Ahi Flower Oil Be Used For?

Ahi flower oil is a powerful supplement that is typically found in pill form, however it can be combined with other supplements for maximum health-boosting benefits. The team at R3SET has worked hard to develop supplements like the Unwind Capsule that take control of the wide breadth of health benefits of ahi flower oil along with other powerful stress support ingredients.
